Then there was this kid who tried to sneak into the camera by going in through the lens. He set the aperture to open as wide as possible. He adjusted the timer to the highest setting so it would stay open as long as it could. The problem was, he needed his sister to push the button. She needed to snap the picture at just the right moment for any of it to work.
His sister, of course, had an endless supply of questions. What was so interesting inside the camera that he needed to see it? Just how was he going to pass through the lens? Once inside, would he end up to be flat as a pancake, like the pictures were? And, what if it was dark inside, as it most likely was. How would he see his way around?
He just looked at her
like she should have already known, “This is the place where moments live, just
before they become memories.”
