Yes, it is possible to have a scratch without ever having an itch, and there is nothing more painful than a scratch on a new car, or as expensive as having an itch to buy one.
Metaphorically blended is the inanimate object with the human condition, stirred by emotion, while reflected in experience. It is a terrain to be avoided. Best viewed from the surface of a page, rather than from the outside of a showroom.
When separated from reality, the itch and scratch exist in harmony. It is the natural order of things that one follows the other. (See mosquitoes or poison ivy)
However, when associated
with ownership, such as a scratch upon the kitchen table, or itching to tell a
secret, the lighting changes, music fades into the background and life steps
forward.
