It isn’t surprising that today’s
shoes cost so much. When you look at the
thought and engineering that goes into the design, it is amazing. The materials used must hold up to rugged
testing. They must be durable, as well
as comfortable. I expect there is a
certain percentage given in to fashion and style, but above that is the
weight. The finished product must be
lightweight, but not so light that the person doesn’t think they are getting
their money’s worth. That’s asking a lot out of footwear.
Unlike cars, the shoe advertisers
stay away from miles per gallon. No one
yet has proclaimed a shoe will give you X number of miles before it wears out. The buyer just has to trust in the design,
materials used and the visually implied durability.
All too often I have invested in a shoe, only to turn around and step in it.
(If you know what I mean)
