Views and Opinions

Birds tend to miss seeing the intended function of an object.  They see it only as a possible place to land.  The back of a park bench, to them, serves only one purpose, a handy perch.  A nice place to survey the landscape, away from ground level, where cats have been known to be.

Cats, on the other hand, see most objects as things to climb upon.  How high can I get up on this?  What if I jump from here to there?  Up here no dogs can get me.  I think I like this height.  If I had a bed up here, I could take a nap.

Students sadly see education as a series of exams, instead of as a Smorgasbord for the brain.

Bad drivers pay attention to the bumper in front of them, instead of seeing the bigger picture.

Artists see things in vivid color, while I pay way too much attention to punctuation, while looking for possible places to take a nap.

The world sees things on a timeline, ever changing, moving towards an uncertain future, with like-minded planets too far away to communicate with.  Alone, quietly hurling through space, forever only seeing the bigger picture.

My shoes notice the coarse surface of concrete, the staining effect of asphalt and the tiring stresses of travel. They suffer the heat of summer and the sock-chilling cold of winter, while laces strain to hold it all together.  They see puddles as things to be avoided, like places where dogs have been.
