A Need to Know Basis

 

        Whenever I see two animals looking at each other I can’t help but wonder what they’re thinking.  Or even just one animal looking at me, what’s going through their mind?  If they are domesticated, they are most likely waiting to see if I’m going to feed them.  The sound of the can opener, or the opening of the pantry door can spark excitement in them, elevating their anticipation.

       But should they be wild, living out on their own, surviving by their own wits, then their thoughts could run in several directions.  Am I a competitor for their food, or a danger they need to be leery of.  Am I simply blocking their way, and if I move a little to my left they will just trot on by, with maybe an annoyed snort as they pass.

       Maybe some day we’ll have an app on our phone.  Just point your camera at them and their thoughts will be translated and come out through your speaker in whatever language you use.  AI Plus

       But if that technology is available, why stop there?  Issue one to every bank teller and they will know instantly if they are about to be held up. The thoughts of every customer walking through the door could be read. No more secrets.   OK, maybe just a little too creepy.
