I see my computer as a big house with many rooms. Over time certain systems have failed. I have no idea how to fix them, and the on-line, step-by-step help pages never do. Consequently, I seal off the non-functioning rooms and just never go in there anymore.
My living space is now quite small. Most rooms are closed, but lucky for me, all I use this computer for is a typewriter. Once that aspect fails then I’ll consider getting a different house.
The sad part of it is, the more
advanced the computers become, the greater the difficulty to fix them. Perhaps what I need is a one-room schoolhouse
to begin with. Nothing fancy, no
trickery or AI assisted gibberish. No
extra rooms or windows overlooking the gardens, just the Word program, Spell
Check and a Printer. That’s it.
Dear Santa,
I think I’ve narrowed it down.

Agreed - but I will need PowerPoint and Excel in my house. Well, also the internet - gotta have the internet if only for puns and spell check. Sorry Santa!
