Curtain Call

There are a variety of performers on stage entertaining the other passengers on the cruise ship.  There are singers, and magicians and comedians doing their job to fill up the time at sea, distracting from the rocking motion, or creating a moment of fantasy, but no matter what they do, they are all on the same ship, going to the same place.

The captain knows no more than the look-out up on deck, or the kid down below washing the dishes.  There are no two passengers alike, and yet they are all destined to hit the same iceberg.

There are vegans and people spending their time doing laps around the deck.  Some are exercising in the gym, while others are playing the slots, hoping to hit the big one.  Each is having a good time in their own way, unaware of the curtain or the hand that is on the rope about to raise it.

No matter who you are or what you believe, everyone is waiting for their peek behind the curtain.  In the movie, The Truman Show, everyone wore a button asking the question, How does it end?

In my mind it ends with the moose holding out his top hat and in the nick of time catching his friend Rocky the flying squirrel.

The trick is to enjoy the show and not worry about the end!
