No Sneeze Guards in Nature

I see the crows and squirrels picking tasty items from my yard.  I’m not sure if they are tiny insects or morsels of little plants, but nowhere do I see any sneeze guards.  They are standing at the buffet, using the same spoon, breathing across the food and yet seem unconcerned about catching anything undesirable.

Even their feet are uncovered, which means they are walking barefoot through the salad bar. Am I to take from this that the spread of germs and disease is restricted to just humans?  Are we not a part of Nature?  Why single us out?  Is it the lack of bushy tails or feathers?  Are we being profiled?

Or could it be the germs that decide who is fair game and who is off limits?  Is there an inherent facial recognition ability within germs.  “There, the one with the mustache, get him.”
