About Town

Little known fact, as soon as Mankind builds or creates something it is given a conscience.  We don't bestow it and are totally unaware of it, but it is there.  Each building within the city carries its own thought process.  The fountain in the town square is constantly thinking.  Even the cemetery sometimes comes up with its own plot lines.  No pun intended.

If thought waves were visible the entire atmosphere would appear as a massive and quite intricate spider web.  Each structure has its own personality, of course.  The fountain forever attempts to grant wishes from tossed coins.  Skyscrapers concerned they are too tall for the class picture.  Embarrassed they will stick out, while subway systems always being negative, taking a dim view of life, constantly thinking they are missing all the fun up top.

The saddest, most lonely structure being the cobbler’s shop.  Long ago abandoned, passed up by progress and left with only the fear of the bulldozer in its future.  The scent of leather and shoe polish still clinging to the walls.  Its age makes the building itself creak like an old boot missing a heel.

In contrast and giggling like some child who quietly discovered what Santa is bringing, sits the bakery.  A popular hub of activity, as if hopped up on its own sugar.  It wears smells like a badge and is as conceited as they come, totally aware that she is the one drawing people into the village, the tiny bell suspended over the front door tinkles as a constant reminder of her warmth and beauty.
