Two Chocolate Chip Cookies sitting on the counter. One had poison in it, and the other didn’t. There was no way to tell by looking at them which was which.
The odds were 50/50. One bite of the wrong cookie and it would be curtains. Both looked tempting, home-made with big bits of chocolate. But how to choose?
It reminded me of the Princess Bride, when the choice appeared to be a 50/50 gamble but in reality, it wasn’t.
“Surely, I cannot choose the cookie in front of me, for only a fool would reach for what he was handed. And I cannot choose the cookie in front of you, for that’s what you’d expect me to do and therefore would have put the poison in your own cookie.”
Taking what I learned
in my Conflict Avoidance class, I took the piece of cake.
