Dilapidated Exposure

There are country barns in desperate need of repair.  There are missing sections of roof, sides you can see through, and they are usually leaning to the point of defying gravity.  Nature surrounds the foundation, reaching up with its long, spindly fingers, adding to the struggle to remain standing.  A stiff wind or a fat crow could easily topple one of these old barns.

A good photograph can preserve a decaying barn.  It can suspend its life far beyond actual usefulness.  No longer subjected to weather or the constant tug of gravity, it becomes transformed into art. Framed, it hangs void of the smell of wet hay and farm animals.  Light and shadow become fixed, while silence permeates all that remains.

Sorry to report but the farmer collapsed
before his barn finally did.
