Where they all went...

 

There was a time, not long ago, when I flipped on the light, the switch made a loud click sound.  It was normal.  Then someone, I don’t know who, developed a switch that worked but it didn’t make any click noise.  He had removed the click.  The switch was now silent.  That quickly became the norm.

I believe that somewhere there is a person who has a collection of all the clicks that are no longer used.  Thinking that some day they will come back into fashion, he keeps them secure, tucked away in a large safe.  In fact, whenever he turns the dial to open the safe, you can hear them in there, in the dark, getting all excited to come out.
