It’s called topping off.
When your gas tank isn’t full but not really down too far and you pull
into the gas station to fill it up anyway.
Too bad brains can’t be like that. You’re smart but not all that smart, so you
drop into class to pick up just enough knowledge to be really smart.
I guess you’d have to know ahead of time just where you were
lacking. Are you missing a little
geography, maybe you need a little touch-up in math. Is computer science your downfall?
Then again, according to the gauge, (which turns out to be
those around you) you’re missing a little from each category. Maybe a quick pop-in won’t be enough.
It is all together possible that if we stay on the present
course, we’ll simply run out of gas. We
will become old, sitting in our chair, sputtering nonsense, waiting for dessert.
Someone you almost remember, sitting on
the other side of the checkerboard, telling you to get the lead out.
