I don’t know how tall they are, but the branches don’t start
until way up there. If you don’t look
up, it looks like a forest of naked trees.
It’s easy to see fairly deep into the woods. I think if there was a bear, you’d see it. It must be kind of hard to hide when there aren’t
any low branches. But then, why would a
bear need to hide?
We’re usually doing about 50 MPH as we pass them. I used to
wonder what it would be like just to walk between them, the sound I’d make
stepping on the floor of the forest, the fresh scent. Then I thought about the millions of bugs that
probably live in the shade and coolness, so I decided it was fine to just zoom
past.
I expect there are all kinds of planets in space with similar
situations. In passing they appear
vacant, yet actually walking on the surface there’d be all kinds of things we
don’t even have names for.
How about, Mr. Hidden Teeth?
