The monsters in the shadows are all in my mind. I consider them as I come up to a blind
corner, and I’m positive they’re lurking at the end of the hallway. They are always in the darkness, just out of sight.
Rational thought has me asking, what do they eat? How do they survive? Is their only purpose in life to jump out and
scare me?
Then again, if I were really rational, why did I create them
to begin with? Going down that path
leads to ghosts and spirits and boogiemen.
Boogiemen being more likely the ones who eat. I’m thinking maybe meat and potatoes, as
opposed to pasta. Not sure why.
That whole thing gets me to question utensils. Where do they get the forks, knives and
spoons? Do they sit down at a table, or are they like us and eat in front of
the television? I know the TV isn’t on
during the night, so it’s probably at the table.
Maybe it is the lack of utensils and napkins that makes them
scary. The words neat and polite
don’t spring to mind when discussing boogiemen. There must be a reason for that.
