Over time the crows
come to understand that the passing cars are going to stay on the pavement, so
they needn’t move each time one comes along.
It is sort of an
unwritten agreement between us and them.
You stay there and we’ll stay here.
There is no such
agreement between a small boat and a whale.
The man in the boat sees a massive mammal, while the whale sees a potential
toy.
Again, no agreement
exists between a shoe and an ant. In
this situation, neither has a very good chance of seeing the other.
A spider in his web
that has become airborne and a collision with a hot air balloon could never be
anticipated, and should it occur, who would know?
Some things in this
life are just going to happen. They just
are. It’s no one’s fault. No need to fill out a report, or take
statements, or pictures. Nobody will be
pacing off the length of the skid marks behind the small boat.
I believe there is a
calm that arises in knowing this. Stuff
is just going to happen and that’s all there is to it. On the rare occasion that the airborne spider
does collide with the whale, then you should snap your photo. That will be a keeper.

That's a whale of a thought! I would hate to be in that boat though!
