Having just traveled across the country it looked a little tired. Not so much out of breath but just a bit worn-out. I can remember a time when this was a common occurrence. Thousands of these at a time made their way back and forth, house to house, business to business.
Today it is a rare occurrence,
not unlike an unaccompanied minor, holding out a little hand, hoping a stranger
helps guide it through. Quietly wishing
its trip was already over. Praying for
that final piece of the journey when it slips in through the mail slot in the
door, hoping that wasn’t the dog it just heard heading towards it.
