I’ve nothing against pelicans

They’re a fine and noble bird

They fly, they float, they swim and perch

with a design that’s quite absurd.

And it’s not because I don’t like fish

don’t eat them – never will,

They don’t have necks, they’re full of scales

and they’re never standing still.

The reason I don’t like pelicans

the thing I think is worst

Is every time they take a dip

they must plunge in face first.
