It is a hobby of sorts, my backyard, night vision cameras. They record the late-night activity and the
following morning I watch to see what has transpired while I was sleeping.
The excitement isn’t in viewing the occasional racoon or
possum, but in catching a possible glimpse of some unknown creature. Maybe it is something that has climbed out of
the lake and walks among us. Then again,
perhaps it has shimmied down one of the trees and made its way to the water’s edge
for a drink.
Unbeknownst to the neighborhood population, they live and
play during the night, gathering strength from the moonlight, while leaving
behind no footprints or candy wrappers.
For now, they shall remain nameless, but once I capture them on film, you and I will both have a better idea of what we’re dealing with and can then adjust the kind of treats we leave out for them,
if any.
