Squeaky Clean

I woke up today by the sound of someone cleaning windows.  They were rubbing over the same spot again and again.  At first, I thought it was a stubborn spot that wasn’t coming clean, but as I woke up just a little more, I realized it was my neighbor’s barking dog and not glass squeaks at all.

For whatever reason, that entire event got me  thinking about the various levels of consciousness, which make me think of teeth without brains.  Of course, we have a thought process that tells us what we can or should bite.  Dinner – yes, fingers – no.

An alligator, on the other hand, sees everything as dinner.  There is no distinction, everything around him or her is food.  So maybe saying, teeth without brains, was a little harsh.  They have brains and an awareness; they are just different than ours.

What tells me this is the fact that I have never seen an alligator cleaning windows.  I doubt they could hold a squeegee or operate a little squirt bottle.  And just so you’ll know, it is thought processes like this that occur whenever I’m woken up before I’m ready.
