I would have kept following you, but I have this soggy sock that has gotten my attention and taken away my speed. I felt I was doing a good job of keeping up, but then that pesky hole slipped itself into my path, and as you can see, my sock is now dripping and my foot is cold.
How am I to continue until I first dry this sock and warm my foot? I see no one else in our party traveling with a cold foot. I don’t see it as an inconvenience for you to wait for me. I shouldn’t even have to ask. You can see for yourself the state I am in. Wet sock. Cold foot. What don’t you understand ?
No, I don’t think I’m getting cranky.
How should I know how long it takes a sock to dry?
Are you in a hurry? Do you have somewhere you need to be?
As a matter of fact, now that my foot is out of the soggy sock and just here in the breeze, it feels even colder. It may never get warm.
I can’t help it that you don’t have a signal. Who are you trying to call, anyway?
No, I haven’t got an extra sock. Why would I be carrying an extra sock with me, and where would I have it, here in my pocket, next to my auxiliary tent?
How did you ever get to be a Scout Master anyway?
What do you mean, you’re not a Scout Master? Aren’t you with our group?
Well then, who are
you and why have I been following you?
Yes, now I am cranky.
