Being aware that our time on the playground is limited
doesn’t really add to the fun.
Understanding that some of us fall off the monkey bars
might add a little fear, but it doesn’t
keep us away.
Knowing my friend, as I do,
having seen him climb the ladder
only makes me sad
that he is now sliding downhill quickly.
I’ll never hear the bell
announcing the end of recess.
