No Class Reunion

July 1, 2025

Dear Scooter,

Congratulations on graduating.  We all knew you could do it.  Now comes the hard part, for it’s now that you begin to find out about all of the million things they didn’t teach you.  Trust me, you won’t believe all the stuff they left out, and I don’t mean the simple things, like don’t use a fork when feeding a baby.

The biggest trick is to learn these things without becoming cynical.  Once you are out in the real world you’ll quickly discover there are people who will smile and shake your hand while at the same time they are picking your pocket.

There are large groups of people you can never trust, and this isn’t just a blanket generalization, it has been proven time and time again.  They are car salesman, politicians, insurance companies, lawyers and doctors.  There is just something about those professions that treats honesty as an option.

And now that you’re out of school, I’ll shed a little light on that institution.  It’s a business, that’s all it is.  It is a numbers game.  They spend the majority of their time and money trying to make themselves look good.  Just like las Vegas pumps oxygen into their casinos to make you feel good while you’re there, schools hype up school spirit and tell you that your best shot of making anything of yourself is with them.  The greater the number of students they have the more money they make.  Ask any one of their football players to spell ukulele, or what the square root of Wisconsin is.  Just like your basic serial killer, they’ll take a stab at it.

Speaking of serial killers, it is important to stay as far away from the legal system as possible.  Even if you are innocent your life will be ruined.  It is a corrupt system that feeds on itself.  It is infested with lawyers, questionable judges and heaven forbid you show up chewing gum.

So you see, Scooter, these are just a few of the many things lacking from your education.  In no way did school prepare you for the real world.  The only thing I can suggest is to continue reading Blogs, especially those without advertising.  They’ve nothing to sell and the really good ones leave you feeling good about your choice of shoes.

 Best of Luck

Uncle Corwin

It's also good to understand that
the more you know
the more you'll realize just
how much you don't know.

This is SO TRUE: " It's also good to understand that the more you know the more you'll realize just how much you don't know."
