Maybe - Maybe not

Now I had a decision to make.  I was hungry but I didn’t know how old this was or how long it had been lying here in the road.  Who dropped it and from what century?  I remember these from when I was a kid.  They were good, if I remember right.

Then again, maybe this was a trick.  Maybe just as I reach to pick it up, someone off in the bushes pulls a string and the candy bar goes zipping off, out of reach.   Although I don’t see any string.

I could be on camera.  This might be some social experiment to see if someone is desperate enough to eat some random candy they found on the road.  Maybe I should just keep walking, ignore it all together.

But then, half a mile away, I’ll still be thinking about it.  Then I’ll find myself walking a half mile back.  Why put myself through all of that when I’m already here?  I should just pick it up and enjoy it.  What’s the big deal?

No, that’s dumb.  You don’t eat things you find in the road.

I don’t know…
