I used to think there were massive spools of
escalator below the floor.
Then, today, I saw they had to add more steps.
The people on the escalator were not making it
all the way down to the first floor.
They began to scream -
Maintenance showed up,
and the next thing I saw - they were adding
more steps.
eventually everyone made it down safely.
