HEY! Down Here

From the edge of the pond I’ve watched you.  You with your shoes, and your hat -

not once have you ever seen me.

I’ve seen you with friends right there

on the bench – sometimes alone.

So sad looking down, not seeing at all 
your own reflection -

or my hat.
