I’m not sure why but
some of them have fences around them.
Even without the
fences no one has ever escaped.
The very old ones
sometimes have short stone walls going around.
No barbed wire, no
broken glass embedded along the top of the wall and never any search lights.
I’ve never seen
protesters or picket signs at the gates.
It’s as if no one
cares. Well, I shouldn’t say no one
cares. Every now and then I see someone
show up and lay flowers at the headstones.
