The Lemmings of Winter

There are small bits of winter that don’t make it into Christmas songs or famous poems, and yet we’ve all experienced them.

They are the cold barnacles that stick to your mittens.  Little balls of snow that cling to yarn or wool.  And don’t forget socks, they love socks.

They believe they are hitching a free ride, yet little do they know, the destination is inside, in front of the fireplace.  For them, it’s a one-way trip.
