Youth, a day
at the beach with Mom & Dad and a pail and shovel.
A little
older and you play in the water. Toes wiggle, knees wet.
20’s, water
skiing and white-water rafting.
40’s,
Parasailing & Jet Skis
50’s,
sitting around the pool.
70’s,
pontoon boats and fishing.
80’s, Old
man River, the current is moving way too fast, you can’t keep up. Life and technology pass you by.
90’s, You no
longer recognize those around you.
Memories of the river come and go.
It feels like you are off on some tributary but actually you’re close to being up the
creek.
Third shift
employee, assigned to clean out the crematorium enters with his pail and
shovel. Country music playing through his headset.
