R. Gile, was the 17th century scientist who discovered friction by noticing that only the bottom of his socks got holes in them.

Rita Book, known for her fight in the literary community to break stories up into pages, making them easier to organize and number.  Even today it is hard to find a book that doesn’t have pages.
