It is the
lure of adventure
the complete
unknown
that causes
us to travel
and leave
behind our home,
To cram into
a suitcase
what hangs
now wrinkle free
and drag
along behind
what now
weighs more than me,
Squeeze into
an airplane
ignoring
basic fright,
Yet knowing
you’ll be safe as long
your tray
table’s upright,
The bugs in
your hotel room
causes you
to scratch
The language
all is foreign
your money
doesn’t match
You’ve never
walked this much
before,
Your tired,
aching feet –
and nothing
here upon your plate
is something
you would eat,
How
wonderful
to get back
home
Show
pictures to your friends,
of the
fabulous vacation
and the
places that you’ve been.
