Flight 618

Each and every passenger sat perfectly still, even the small child in 17C, who had been squirming and fussing throughout the entire flight suddenly settled down, almost to the point of holding their breath.

The flight attendants sat motionless in their jump-seats.  None of them had ever been trained for anything like this.

The pilot gently held the microphone as he calmly spoke to the control tower.  No one seemed to know how to handle this situation.  Opening the door and inflating the emergency slide was out of the question.

Even the slightest breeze could send them plummeting.
