It's All Short-term Parking

The important thing is to ignore the ticks.  No matter if you’re working towards your degree, or striving for that promotion, or simply trying to finish reading your book, you have to stop listening to the clock.  Put it out of your mind.

Enjoy your time here.  Live in the moment, as they say.  It may sound simple, but it isn’t.  Many of our thoughts run at different speeds, pushed by schedules or hurried by necessity.  There will always be something more important coming along, forcing you to adjust priorities and juggle activities.

It is sometimes too easy to step into the future, tearing off that calendar page, even though there are three days to go in this month.  Stop it.  Take a breath.  It’s fine to plan your vacation, just don’t keep living it before it gets here.

The other day I spoke of bookmarks.  I wrote an entire post about them.  How is this for a thought...  take an hour and cut it into the shape of a bookmark.  Then, when you feel you could use a break, slip that hour in between all of the things that are wearing you out.  Sit back, close your eyes and for heaven’s sake, don’t listen to that ticking clock.  Think about something fun.
