J. Peterman

The sound of a horse walking on pavement is unique.  It has neither pitch nor tonal qualities.  It cannot be associated with any musical scale, neither flat or sharp.

It is the combination of weight, impact and a hollow resonance.

Several horses walking along the same street would be the sound of a crumpling tuba, discarded by the child weary of marching with the school band and thinking only of the Twix candy bar in his pocket.

I would have enjoyed writing for the J. Peterman catalog. For me that would have been the perfect job.
