My side of the bed has always been on the right, looking at it from the foot of the bed. Any and all sounds I hear during the night are therefore coming from my right side, or the left side of the bed. That tells my subconscious that there is no cause for alarm. Everything is normal.
Last night, there came a sound from across the valley, to my left. It woke me up because I knew two things, the first thing was there isn’t a valley in our bedroom and secondly, there isn’t anyone over there to make any noise.
This morning, I remember the event very clearly. What I couldn’t remember was what I was dreaming at the time. I don’t recall any canyon or valley, but I recall the sound echoing as if it were in a valley, that’s the part that caught my attention.
Now, hours later, I don’t
even remember what the sound was. I just
need to look around the house to see if during the night there might have been
a shift in the earth’s crust, which exchanged the right side of our room for
the left. This could take a while. Go back to what you were doing while I check
this out.

I now right!! What is it about strange noises that wake you from a sound sleep? I especially hate the ones that say: "Low Battery" or the stupid smoke detector that gives you a beep......you keep waiting to hear it again.....you don't and you go back to almost sleep and then.... beep!
