I found it in a toy store
a place I never thought to look
I used to believe I’d find it
in the pages of a book
But walking down these aisles
and remembering the fun
I found the youth I had before
when life had just begun
There were wings that flapped
and wheels that turned
horns that really tooted
Some had maps
with things to learn
batteries included
I can’t believe the years I spent
pretending I was grown
I couldn’t wait
to drive a car
and be out on my own
When all I ever needed
was this plastic slide trombone.

So true and your words brought visions of youth back to me!
