The High Road - not that much fun.

If a doorbell rings in a house but nobody is home to hear it, does it make a sound?

The following is a true event.  Documentation is attached.

The technology of the time gave us a doorbell that sounded as if a dog was barking.  Each time someone pushed the button the doorbell would bark.

Here come two kids working for the county.  Census team. They push the button.  They hear the barking.

At the end of their workday, they report back to the county that there is a dog at our address.

County records do not show a dog license for our address, nor do they see shot records for a dog.

They sent us a letter telling us we are in violation and have just so many days to register our dog and get the shot records up to date, or we will have to go to court.

Looking back, it would have been more fun to go to court, having our doorbell at the end of a leash, but as we've never seen a judge with a sense of humor, we opted to simply call them and let them know that it was a doorbell their team was hearing and not an actual dog.

We still miss old Pavlov.
