She didn’t know why, but something felt different. The wind was somehow giving her more of a
struggle than normal. Even gliding on a
current or updraft didn’t seem as simple as before. Whatever it was, she didn’t like it.
She decided to retrace her steps. She was going to go back to every place she’d
been and look around. Something was off,
but what?
It was from the branch of the Elm tree where she spotted
it. She could see it laying there in the
grass and she knew. There was nothing to
be done. It’s just the way it goes. She knew it had happened; she had heard
others talk about it before. Now, at
least, she knew why things felt different. She just needed to adjust, that’s all. She could do it, others had.
