The light Verse Rises to the Top

 

Not in cage like a canary

and never in a dictionary –

I store my words inside a box

with double hinge and paddle locks

To think someone could steal my words

well, see this one, it’s just absurd.

Why so cautious, what’s the fear -

to keep your nouns and verbs in here?

“As I sit down and start to write,

but simply draw a blank –

I pop the lid and reach inside

and sort out drink, drunk, drank.”

I’m never at a loss you see –

when I need words I got em.

with adjectives, conjunctions too

and commas on the bottom.

Some day I'll write a fairy tale

the kids will all adore,

I'll gather everything I need

from in my Big Box Store.
