Made the Papers

 

I came upon a closet

as short as it was tall,

It had shirts and pants

coats and shoes -

Clothes for big and tall,

There were hangers made of wire

some were plastic, some were wood

There were shoes that closed with Velcro

and some laced the way they should.

In the pocket of a sport coat

was a ticket from a race –

Lucky Shot paid 8 to 1

and ran in the fourth race,

But he couldn’t get the winnings

the ticket went unclaimed

for with a picture of this gambler

anonymous gets a name.
