Special Delivery

 

Someone had left it at my front door.  The first thing that caught my attention was that there weren’t any footprints leading up to it or away from it.  The snow was completely untouched in all directions.   I seriously doubt a drone dropped it from the sky, not with all the full-grown trees in the yard.  That would have been some fancy maneuvering. 

Whatever left it here hadn’t made a sound either.  My doorbell camera didn’t get a picture of anything.  It was all very strange.  No recording, no noise and zero footprints.  How could this be?  Obviously too large for the mailbox, but how heavy was it?  I bent to pick it up and was quite surprised when it didn’t budge.  Well over 100 pounds, I would guess, which also means the postman didn’t carry it here.

What ever was in it was driving me nuts.  I didn’t even know if I should bring it into the house, but surely, I couldn’t leave it sitting here.  It would definitely freeze, and who knows what that would do to it?
