I have noticed the various birds
in the neighborhood have been taking turns perching on the highest branch of
the tall tree across the street.
Sometimes there are two to three crows sitting up there enjoying the
view.
When it isn’t the crows, there
are many Ibis occupying the spot.
However, when it is a hawk, there
is but one. No one joins him, nobody
shares the branch or engages in casual conversation.
I’m guessing being King is a
lonely position. No friends, no gossip
or neighborhood scoop. I expect they are
born without a sense of humor. That’s
why nobody jokes with him or likes to hang around, just being buds.
I admit, I’m not all that
familiar with bird humor, and it is probably only the woodpeckers that enjoy a good knock – knock joke.
