In our last exciting episode all of
the patients from O.V. General were transferred to the Sears
Home and Garden Center
due to a reported fire at the Hospital.
As we look in at Oak
Valley today we are just
in time to see the long line of fire trucks at the Hospital entrance waiting
their turn to pass through the mechanical arm that admits only one vehicle at a
time into the parking lot.
A. A. Jax, (Hospital Custodian) is
standing next to the buzzing box helping with instructions as each fire truck
pulls up.
A. A.: “When it buzzes like that take a ticket. It will spit out a ticket in a minute. When it does grab onto it and pull. Hang onto the ticket and when you leave give
the ticket to Jim in the booth. He’ll
tell you how much you owe.”
Meanwhile… Back at the dress shop, what was once a
shadowy figure can now be clearly seen in the dim glow of the streetlight. The figure is none other then Mountain
Jake. Years ago when he was just Jake
Wozajenski he had attended Oak
Valley University . After having gained a Masters Degree in every
subject they had offered he enrolled in every correspondence school he could
find. After having completed all Degree
programs they had he had realized his dream.
It was then that he had headed off into the Blue Diamond
Mountains to become the
new High Llama.
Unfortunately, Mahatma Koat, the old
High Llama hadn’t yet retired and had no immediate plans to do so.
M. J.: “Hi, Wanda, it’s me. Mountain Jake.”
As Wanda approached the dress shop she
sees him. “Well Hi to you too,
Jake. What brings you down from the
Mountains?”
M. J.: “The fire at the Hospital. I know what it is.”
Wanda: “What do
you mean, you know what it is?”
M. J.: “I have
figured it out mathematically. 93% of Oak Valley
residents are young couples with medium income and have not yet achieved 2.3
children. I believe the smoke coming
from Oak Valley General is coming from the Maternity waiting room, which is now
bursting at the seams with new fathers puffing on cigars. You know - It’s a Girl, It’s a Boy, etc.”
Well…
Just how much is it to park at Oak Valley General? Moreover, what is to become of Jake? Until the High Llama job opens up will he get
a job at the Valley Shell Station as the Shell Answer Man? And what about Mahatma Koat… Does he remember to make adjustments for
cooking at higher elevations?
Tune in again tomorrow, when you’ll hear Sarah Bellum, (The
Head Nurse) say: “Why it’s a… Why it’s a… Oh!
My.”
