This is the tale of Grandville
Beckett. Our story takes place in the
serene setting of Oak Valley , a small friendly community just off the
freeway in the Blue
Diamond Mountains .
As our story begins, Sparky - the
firehouse dog, is listening in on the town meeting. The topic of discussion seems to be the
arrival of the town statue - a bigger than life replica of General Seating,
sitting high atop his horse Muffin. The
statue has been placed dead center in the town’s one and only traffic
circle. Warren
Peace , town mayor, makes his opening remarks:
“As most of you have seen, the base of
our new statue is bigger than our traffic circle. In fact, it extends to the far edges of the
curbs on all sides. No traffic can get
by – it’s blocking all roads to and from town!”
Wanda Loop, owner of the Hemming-Way
Dress Shop on the out-skirts of town stands and addresses the mayor. “Is it too late to call those helicopters
back and have them lift it to the park?”
“Excuse me mayor, Alex Hampton here,
you know - from the Sears Home and Garden
Center . What are we going to do? How are our emergency vehicles going to get
anywhere? There is just no room in this
town for General Seating.”
Well, just what will Warren
Peace do? Just who is
this General and does Oak
Valley have enough
pigeons for a statue this large? Tune in
tomorrow when you will hear Judy from the OVDQ (Oak Valley Dairy Queen)
say… “We’ve got to get the road open –
if the delivery truck can’t get through the hot fudge will cool down before it
gets here.”
