His shadow reached the edge of the forest way before he did, which meant the afternoon sun had given him away. There’d be no surprises today.
Fast-forward to the Countryside Courthouse, August 8th. 1 PM. The prosecution, so far, had failed to prove intent. The claim was that Mr. Hawk was only flying home when opportunity placed Larry Squirrel in the clearing. Everyone understood the law of Nature never came into question when opportunity was obvious.
By trial’s end, Mr. Hawk had been exonerated and was free to go. Unfortunately, as Wanda Chipmunk was crossing
the street along the side of the courthouse, her movement caught Mr. Hawk’s
attention. Well…. after all, it was lunch time.
