When Worlds Collide

 

There is a place in Columbia where the weather is hot and the people toil out on the hillside picking coffee beans.

Far across the planet, in a place known as Wisconsin, farmers bring their cows in out of the cold to milk them.

Here, in an undisclosed location, without the slightest hesitation, Wanda pours milk into her coffee.  She has never been to Columbia, and the closest she’s ever gotten to Wisconsin was to buy a winter coat from an L.L. Bean catalog.

Without giving it a second thought, Wanda smiles and enjoys the blending of these two worlds, the heat of Columbia and the chill of Wisconsin joining hands within her ceramic mug.

Once, however, her coffee is done, her day will begin and she will, for the first time, introduce her new blond, surfer-dude California boyfriend to her rugged Brooklyn family.

A cooling off period may be needed.
