The Pen Pal

 

It shouldn’t be hard
finding a pen pal –

Someone like me,
who can’t really write well –

They can’t be a smoker
their words would all stink,

I don’t want a joker
they’d drive me to drink –

They shouldn’t have kids
with fingers all sticky –

Or be all too clever,
with thoughts much too tricky –

They could have a dog,
if they told him to “Stay”

But a curious cat
would just get in the way –

None of their phrases
ever should taunt –

and everything typed
in respectable font –

You’d think it’d be easy
selecting a chum –

OH, and before I forget,
they shouldn’t chew gum.
