An
artichoke farmer in Barambah discovered, while plowing his field, what appeared
to be a ticket stub from a shoe repair shop in Manhattan .
Researchers determined it to be from 1904.
It
was preserved in acid-free plastic and mailed to a curator at the New York
Museum of Art. He was able to locate the
repair shop and presented the stub to the current owners, thinking they might
frame and display it, however, upon briefly glancing at the stub the owner
replied, “They’ll be ready Tuesday.”
