When the Seasons Washed Away

There’s just so much to look at
along the sandy beach –

where pelicans glide silently
just out of ocean’s reach –

There are sights and sounds
and smells for all
with things that wash ashore –

Umbrellas, chairs and blankets
and Sun block 84 –

There are flies and fleas
and seagulls too
shells and bottle caps –

fire pits and hamburgers
with photographs to snap –

Yet it’s all so very quiet
when the seasons washed away –

She still comes to walk the beach
and feel the ocean’s spray.

No postcard racks

no surfboard shops

No danger signs to warn her -

No volly balls - or Frisbies

No Parking here to corner -

Just her along the very edge

with footprints for a day -

How wonderful to be there

when the seasons washed away.
