It goes back to the beginning, when we first become cognizant
of ourselves, that feeling that something is missing. As we grow, learn and
encounter others like ourselves, we are constantly examining, exploring and
reviewing in hopes of finding that missing something.
Is it another person, a situation or item? Is it a feeling or knowledge of
something? That curiosity stays with us,
and it festers just below the surface.
We’re always aware of it, even if it isn’t foremost in our thoughts, it’s
still there.
We don’t always realize it, but it is a driving force. We watch for it during our working live, and
some seek it in church, or school. But
it isn’t knowledge and maybe it isn’t even something we’re supposed to
find. It is all together possible it is
an inherent loneliness built into our makeup.
It's that part of us making us human, causing us to consider others,
to conform to our surroundings, and accept our fate. Some might say it is our motivation, our
drive, and it pushes them to climb social ladders, or to make more and more
money, believing becoming rich is the answer.
This article draws no conclusions. If you were hoping to discover the answer, I apologize. My only intent here was to illuminate that
part of our inner workings that remains a mystery. In fact, if you were hoping to discover the answer,
it’s that part of you that raised your hopes.
